Members of Rashtravadi Non-Teaching Staff Association of University of Pune (UoP) have decided to hold a protest on Monday to put forth their demands including stringent action against those involved in irregularities in recruitment of non-teaching staff and stop re-recruitment of retired workers. The protest assumes importance as members will protest outside the venue of UoP’s management council meeting to be held on Monday.
According to a press note issued by the association, it has proofs of irregularities in the recruitment of non-teaching staff. Such recruitments are not in compliance with the stipulated standards and candidates not qualified for the post have been taken on job. The association has provided a list of about 15 UoP senior officers allegedly involved in the recruitment scam and has demanded action against them.
The association has also alleged that marks are being increased in exams of government-sanctioned posts. “We expect action in this matter too,” the press note stated. According to Sunil Mate, president of the association, many officers-workers are working in the same department despite regular transfers. “There is a need to frame rules for such transfers that are in sync with government rules,” he said.
According to the association, there is no vacancy register maintained in the administrative department of UoP. There is a need for regular maintenance of this register as well as the recruitment roster, the press note stated.
In order to put forth these demands, the association has decided to hold a protest outside vice-chancellor’s office on Monday between 11 am and 1 pm.
