Punjab Colts outclass MPCA to retain Dhruv Pandove Trophy

Playing to their potential, Punjab Colts defended the title after beating Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) on the basis of first innings lead of 69 runs in the final match played at the Dhruv Pandove Stadium as they clinched the 2 nd All India Under-19 cricket tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy. Resuming from overnight total of 277 for 5, Punjab went on to score 514 runs in 162.5 overs, in reply to MPCA's first innings total of 445 runs. The Punjab batsmen were on a roll before they lost two quick wickets in the mid-way and were reduced to 443 runs for nine. Vinay Chaudhry then showed his batting prowess and scored 48-ball 49 runs to take Punjab past the 500-run mark. Vinay was involved in a 71-run ninth-wicket partnership with Amritpal (17 no). Punjab took 69-run lead against MPCA in the second innings. For MPCA, medium-pacer Kulpreet Singh bowled 70 overs for 181 runs and picked-up four wickets. Playing in the second innings, MPCA were 101 for 2 in 33 overs at the end of the match. The winning team got Rs one lakh along with the trophy.
