If all goes according to the plan, great entertainment and recreational facilities are in store for Mohali residents. Punjab Haat-cum-amusement park, which would be first-of-its-kind facility in this part of the region, would come up on 16.43 acres of prime land, part of the proposed Central Business District (CBD), in Sector 62 here.
Estimated to cost Rs 55 crore, the ambitious project would be developed within one year through the Punjab Infrastructure Development Board (PIDB). The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) approved it at a recent meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in Chandigarh.
Arts, handicrafts, food court, games, stage show zones, amusement park, water park with rafting and different rides, dry park, go-carting, musical fountains, open laser shows, restaurants and souvenir shops would be the main components of the project, GMADA Chief Administrator (CA) Vivek Partap Singh told Newsline.
The project would be implemented on the public-private-partnership (PPP) format under design-build-operate-transfer (DBOT) model.
Selected private sector player would design, plan, establish the project components, finance, construct, market, operate, maintain and manage utilities, facilities and equipments of the project during the concession period.
GMADA would lease the land to the lessee for the concession period of 30 years and the project would be structured for capital investment to be brought in by the selected private sector player. Single or two stage bidding process would be adopted for selection of private sector developer through financial and technical bids.
The bidding parameter would be the highest annual concession fee or the percentage of revenue share for the project facilities as quoted by the bidder.
