Last week was so far one of the most hectic weeks of the year for the Punjabi film industry. The last couple of days gave a glimpse into the future — with announcements, interactions, unveiling of the first look of films, shootings and releases. It started with the first look of Jimmy Sheirgill's much-awaited Punjabi film, Rangeelay, and ended with a big bang at the box-office with the success of the romcom Singh vs Kaur. Made on a budget of rupees four crores, the film raked in three crores over the weekend. The man of the moment, in both cases, is director Navaniat Singh, who, after Singh vs Kaur, is set to release Rangeelay on May 16. He has also released an action-packed poster with Sheirgill looking bratty.

Carrying on with the Jatt obsession, Pankaj Batra is shooting Naughty Jatts in the city. He has on board US-based G-Deep for the music. Incidentally, their song inspired by Katrina Kaif is already climbing the charts.

Titled Dekh shoukina lagdi Katrina, Dil kadke lai gayee desi hasina, the song has been picturised on Aarya Babbar, Neeru Bajwa and Roshan Prince, and been composed and sung by G-Deep. "People will let their hair down when they listen to it," says G-Deep.

Meanwhile, scooting in and out of the city was the cast and crew of Love You Sohniye. The maiden Punjabi venture of actor couple Karanvir Bohra and Teejay Sidhu, this is a romantic film with a "different treatment," states actor Vindu Dara Singh.

Currently being shot in Patiala, the film is directed by a non-Punjabi filmmaker, Sahil Kohli, and also stars Harry Anand (Anand Raaj Anand's brother) along with British bhangramuffin Rishie Rich's wife Manreena, Shivinder Mahal and Upasna Singh. "It is time to cash in on the Punjabi fan following," says television actor Bohra. Late Jaspal Bhatti was also signed for the film in a triple role and now the film is dedicated to him.
