  • The Punjabi University Syndicate at a meeting on Tuesday adopted the Punjab Government’s notification with regard to giving revised pay scales and other benefits to teachers and equivalent cadres in the university and its affiliated colleges.

The revised pay scales will be given according to the University Grants Commission’s recommendations with effect from January 1, 2006.

Salaries in the revised scales shall be paid in cash with effect from August 1, 2009, while the arrears for the period from January 1, 2006 to July 31, 2009 would be released in instalments in due course.

The Syndicate also decided that the teachers, if they fulfill certain requirements, will have new designations of assistant professor, associate professor and professor instead of the existing designations of lecturer, lecturer (senior scale/section grade), reader and professor.
