  • It’s official, Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan will head the larger Bench scheduled to decide the constitutional validity of the Act providing 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in higher educational institutions. The hearing on the batch of petitions filed in the apex court challenging the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act 2006 will commence from August 7. Along with the CJI, the Bench would see Justice Arijit Pasayat hearing the matter.

It was the Bench comprising Justices Pasayat and L S Panta, which on March 29 stayed implementation of the Act, forcing the Centre to move the Chief Justice’s court for referring it to a larger Bench. Justices C K Thakker, R V Raveendran and Dalveer Bhandari will be the other judges on the bench.

Comment MUST read--An EyeopnerBy: Ajay Kumar | 29-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward It is nothing but disgusting that again and again we discuss and consider the reservation issue based on Mandal report and CASTE.Surprisingly enough Re.. has been given on caste basis but Creamy layer is based upon economic criteria. In fact through RE.. we fulfill the dream and Lust of our so-called Leaders and help them in getting chair only.We help to divide the socities.Caste based policy can not eradicate Caste system rather it will rigid the same..Brahmins are respected not because of any post.In fact the position of Brahmins who are poor is beyond imagination.Kurmis and Kayastha originated at same time but now Kayasthas are in So-called Forward class.Of course not because of RE....In fact Caste based reservation is not only against the principle of our Costitution rather a method adopted by some leaders for befooling judiciary and people.Constitution makers knowingly used the word CLASS .
