Race for custody between Mumbai,Pune agencies

The Pune ATS,which wants Ansari in connection with the German Bakery blast,has obtained a transfer warrant from ATS judge Swarup Bose.

The National Investigation Agency,the Mumbai Crime Branch and the Mumbai Anti Terrorism Squad have all approached the court of Delhi chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav for the custody of Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal; the Pune ATS too is chasing the same objective.

The Pune ATS,which wants Ansari in connection with the German Bakery blast,has obtained a transfer warrant from ATS judge Swarup Bose. His custody with the Delhi police ends on July 5 and the Pune ATS will approach the Delhi court,said Sanjay Latkar,the squads DIG.

The Mumbai Crime Branch is seeking Ansaris custody in connection with the 26/11 attack and hopes to confront him with Ajmal Kasab,while the Mumbai ATS wishes to interrogate him in connection with the 2006 serial blasts.

The NIA has submitted an order from a designated NIA court,seeking a direction for Ansaris production before that court on July 6. The CMM has posted the application for hearing on July 4. The applications of the Mumbai Crime Branch and the Mumbai ATS will be heard on July 5.

The Mumbai police have got a production warrant for Ansari while another one has been issued by the MCOCA court in connection with the 2006 Aurangabad arms haul case. A third warrant was issued by a Nashik court in connection with a 2010 case in which two alleged LeT men were caught with explosives.
