All-India Congress Committee General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has asked the youth leaders of his party to fend for themselves. In the city to attend the first day of the Yuva Drishtri (Youth Vision) meeting of the Youth Congress, Rahul asked the youth Congress leaders not to expect help from any quarters but struggle for themselves to fight against the atrocities of the ruling state government.
The AICC general secretary said this when some delegates apprised him about the Congress leaders being booked in some fake case and the ‘highhandedness’ of the state government.
“Rahul told youth leaders not to expect any help from anyone, not even from the state leadership of the party but asked us to fend for ourselves and get justice. He told us how senior leaders of the party had earned a name for themselves and earned such a stature,” said a delegate who attended the meeting.
Another delegate said instead of delivering speeches, Rahul first took the personal introduction from each of the delegates and asked them to draw a list of at least three issues relating to national, state and regional politics and problems. Some of the delegates told the AICC General Secretary that if the party wanted to fight back the atrocities of the SAD-BJP government, the party will have to give the reins of party to former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. “Rahul listened to this suggestion but did not give react,” said another delegate.
The junior Gandhi asked the youth brigade of the party to go to the grass-root level. He also asked them to highlight the issues to female foeticide, increasing population and the problem of drug-addiction among the youth.
