WANTED: A good, cultured bride for Rahul Mahajan. “I am hoping there is someone out there who has developed a liking for me and considers me a suitable life partner,” says Mahajan, 34, dressed in a bright blue sherwani sitting on a golden chair at the launch of NDTV Imagine’s Swayamvar Season 2 called Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega at The Grand on Wednesday.

The show comes after item girl Rakhi Sawant got engaged to her dream man in the successful Rakhi Ka Swayamvar on the same channel. “I would like to get married in March. But the auspicious dates will be worked out by the priest,” he adds. Entries for the nationwide audition of prospective brides started on Tuesday. Sixteen girls will be shortlisted for the final TV round which will air in December. Mahajan will choose his bride after 30 episodes. “I am not a difficult man to please,” he lets in. “This is not a publicity stunt. Once I saw Rakhi getting engaged on TV, I decided to give it a try. My mother has been planning to get me married for some time,” he explains, adjusting his dupatta.

Mahajan, whose first marriage to a pilot lasted two years, says his ideal wife “can be of any caste or religion. But she needs to be someone with good values and an honest person.”
