AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi will on Tuesday take up his first-ever “Himachal Pradesh Mission”. Interactions with the student community and one-to-one sessions with PCC officer-bearers will mark his visit.
Rahul had campaigned for only a day in the state during the Lok Sabha elections and twice in earlier Assembly elections. This is the first time he’d arrive in the state with the aim to revive the Congress in the hill state, particularly by tapping the student and youth leadership.
“We are not eyeing any immediate gain but we will surely start building up from Rahul Gandhi’s message to the youth and the party,” said PCC president Kaul Singh Thakur.
“Rahulji will have an hour-long interaction with the students at Himacal Pradesh University. Immediately after that, he will leave for Dharamsala for a similar programme,” said PCC media in-charge Mukesh Agnihotri.
The state is going for the bypolls to two Assembly seats of Rohru and Jawali, vacated by Union Minister Virbhadra Singh and BJP MP Dr Rajan Sushant respectively.
