Political parties in Tamil Nadu have expressed concern over the delay in rehabilitation of Tamils after the end of the ethnic strife last year with the decimation of LTTE.

Last month,Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi had said the presence of about 30,000 Tamils in camps for internally displaced persons in Sri Lanka was a matter of “serious concern”.

He had also said the issue relating to resettlement and rehabilitation of the Tamils had not been fully addressed by Sri Lankan Government in spite of earnest efforts and dialogue at various levels undertaken by India.

Gandhi expressed dismay over the “reluctance” of intellectuals to join main stream politics. “They should come forward and contribute their mite to the nation’s polity,” he said.
