Rail connectivity in Haryana set to improve in coming months

With three new railway lines in the offing, railways connectivity in Haryana is all set to increase in the coming months. As part of the South-North Corridor Railway Connectivity Project, estimated at a total cost of Rs 1605 crore, the three rail lines, Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak, Jind-Sonepat and Hansi-Meham-Rohtak, will be built at a cost of Rs 1,250 crore. While divulging the details, the political advisor to the Haryana chief minister, Prof Virender Singh, on Saturday, said: "The south-north corridor will connect the northern and southern parts of Haryana and Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will inaugurate the Rewari-Jhajjar-Rohtak railway line in January 2013."

He added that of the three proposed lines, construction work of Rohtak-Jhajjar railway line has almost been completed while work is under way at the Sonepat-Jind railway line and the Rohtak-Hansi railway line has also been approved, for which, tenders have been received for its survey and geo-technical assesment.

"These three railway lines will also directly connect the major towns in the west of the state including Sirsa, Hisar, Hansi and Meham with New Delhi. These railway lines will prove a boon for the people of western and southern Haryana," Prof Virender said.
