Probe: ATS has so far arrested 13 people. Claims LeT men, some of them trained in Pakistan, carried out the blasts with the help of 12 Pakistani nationals. The men have been charged under MCOCA. Case yet to come up for trial.

Varanasi, March 7, 2006: Twin blasts at Sankatmochan Temple and the waiting area of the Varanasi Cantt Railway Station. 14 die, 6 at the railway station
Probe: UP police arrest six people, including alleged mastermind Walliullah and Maqbool Ali Mandal, Syed Shoaib Hasan, Mohammed Rizwan Siddiqui, Farhan and Mohammed Shad Ali. Claim blasts carried out by HuJI of Bangladesh, with links with Pakistan’s Jaish-e-Mohammed. Three Bangladeshi nationals who are believed to have planted the bombs are absconding
Jaunpur, July 28, 2005: Blast in general compartment of Shramjeevi Express near the Hariharpur railway crossing in Jaunpur. 9 die, 50 are injured
Probe: Blast triggered by a timer device. Explosives packed in a suitcase. Similar explosives would later be used for Varanasi blasts. UP police chargesheet blames HuJI. Case in trial stage.

Tiruchi, Erode, Thrissur, Dec 6, 1997: IEDs go off in general compartments of three trains at Tiruchi, Erode and Thrissur. All the three trains, Pandiyan Express (to Tiruchy), Cheran Express (Coimbatore) and Alleppey Express, had originated from Chennai on Dec 5. 10 people die, nearly 150 injured
