After a brief hiatus, monsoon rains returned to the Capital on Tuesday, bringing relief to residents.

After a brief hiatus, monsoon rains returned to the Capital on Tuesday, bringing relief to residents. Heavy rainfall began around 1 pm,lasting for a few minutes.

Following that, the city witnessed light showers at regular intervals. At 5.30 pm,the MeT department at Safdarjung measured 1.1 mm of rainfall.

There has been a revival of Southwest monsoon due to upper air cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal. This means Delhi would receive regular showers for the next three days. Earlier, the monsoon had weakened for a few days, leading to hot and humid conditions in all parts of northwest India. With the monsoon resuming, the maximum temperature came down to 36.4 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature, however, rose from Monday’s 28 degrees to 28.2 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal. The humidity level oscillated between 54 and 77 per cent.

The weatherman has predicted the possibility of rains or thundershowers on Wednesday, with temperature settling between 26 and 35 degrees Celsius.
