MNS chief Raj Thackeray said that BJP and Shiv Sena's "failure" to be an effective opposition in Maharashtra is greater than ruling Congress-NCP alliance's "failure" to provide a good government.

"Congress failed...but the opposition failed even more," Raj said at a post-election results press conference when asked why voters did not punish the ruling alliance despite bad performance in the last ten years.

Raj's Maharashtra Navanirman Sena, founded three years ago after he left Shiv Sena, won 13 seats in the assembly elections.

"This is what I had been saying all along. You (Shiv Sena-BJP) had 110 MLAs in the house. You should have acted as a parallel government but you did not get things done," Raj said.

"The opposition parties did not inspire confidence among the voters about their ability to rule", he said.

About Sena and BJP's accusation that MNS dented into their (voters') base, leading to Congress victory, Raj said "How long they would keep whining? They (Sena-BJP) must do introspection. Besides, my candidates have won too." Raj assured his MLAs would show how to be a good opposition and "raise hell" in the assembly.

New ModiBy: Admirer | 24-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Such criticism made Narendra Modi. His development agenda tamed many. Let's see of Raj repeats the episode. I wonder when we are going to fix accountability to Northern states And to Maharashtra State and BMC which has failed to create jobs for locals or build low cost housing.Few years back there were a large number of food stalls around the Mumbai Office of IE (and Mantralaya) They also belonged mostly to Non Maharashtrians. When they were removed for the security concerns, nobody raised the eyebrows. But most of the suburban railway stations are still encroached by hawkers despite the fact that the highest number of terrorist attacks are on Mumbai trains. The same BMC which doesnt let the hawkers go in the residential areas of babus, riches and celebs have a completely different standard for others.I dont think Raj Thackeray is going to bring any radical change. But question is why people of Mumbai shouldnt go for a radical choice if the chaos in their lives remains unregistered?
Bad signal for entrprisesBy: Observer | 23-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Maharashtra politics is becoming very conservative and hence less encouraging for development of enterprenurs , creative business. As a result such enterprises will start moving out of Mumbai and Mahrashtra .
Wrong observationBy: Sukumar Pradhan | 24-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward You will be surprised. Soon. The manipulators will have to leave with their filthy practices, genuine entrepreneurs will replace them, good signs all over for this.

MP, Malwa, Gujarat was all Marathi beforeBy: Sukumar Pradhan | 24-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Most of Madhya Pradesh was under Maratha rule for centuries, my man. So, some of the Marathi families are found in all such places. Gujarat, too. Have I settled it for you, now? Stop diverting the issue. Thackereay family is very much Marathi and they are proving so. It is guys like you who ungratefully claim otherwise.
