The stand taken by MNS chief Raj Thackeray on employment opportunities in Railways is correct and the North Indian leaders need to introspect over the issue, MP Balasaheb Vikhe Patil said.

Patil said that as per the constitutional provision any Indian citizen can go any where in the country but he or she should merge with culture of that state and keep hormonious relations with the state's people.

Equal opportunities in state jobs is not an unjust demand and when we find the north Indians more in a public sector unit like Railways it will give rise to dispute naturally, Patil said.

Every political leader should strive for the betterment of public in general but they are worried more for self esteem and prestige, Patil regretted.

Leaders from UP and Bihar were made the Railway ministers and there have been keen contest in getting this postfolio, he added.

The issue of equal employment opportunities in public sector undertakings could be settled amicably if all the concerned keep aside their personal and party gains think of larger interest, Patil said. To achieve this, political will is important, he said.

Raj stand on RLysBy: jawadekar | 05-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Mr Patil needs apprciation for supporting the right cause of Maharashtrians . People would have called him tru leader if he has said this in Parliament where such views should have loudly spoken. This utterances are for getting sympathy of Maharashtrians so that he can again chnge the party as per the airthmetical equation after the election.
mindless argument by marathi goonsBy: sanjay | 04-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward None of these jokers have any facts or figures about how many railway jobs are held by which community. Except for dudhwala, paanwala, taxiwala and panipuriwala bhaiyas are no where in any structure of soceity. Thats the reason some section of marathi speaking goons can easily target and hit them. As far as laloo and other bihari leaders are concerned they dont stop any particulr community or people from any exam or any sector of India's structure. Obviously if the congress Govt allows 1200 pvt engineering colleges in Maharashtra and only 10 in UP and Bihar where else you expect the people to migrate. When the centre govt year after year take poor people of UP and Bihar for granted and grant major funds for industrial and power sectors to maharashtra where else they will migrate? Its a fanatic and blind attitute to think that since bihar is left under developed means you will treat it like the way these marathi goons are advocating.
Looks at factsBy: kande Pohe | 04-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Is Indian railway a property of people from UP and Bihar? Besides genuine cases of merits, the forces of connections, exam paper leakage and corruption seem to be very active under the umbrella of constitution in Indian Rail. People from other states are not getting fair and equal opportunities in Indian Rail as well as in other central govt jobs. Also, the statistical data of funding in five-year plan over last 55 years will indicate how the central government has given preferential treatment to UP. These biased policies can divide India. Thousands of poors migrate to Mumbai from Bihar and UP and end up in illegal slums of Mumbai. These illegal dirty slums are not okay even as per Indian constitution.
Lets protect our own culture and make "unity in diversity" a reality, not just a sloganBy: Jay | 03-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward India is and was never a homogenous society unlike USA or Australia where indigenous people are sidelined long ago. India has many rich cultures and languages. In reality”unity in diversity” still remains just a slogan. Majority of us hardly understand that and our central Govt did nothing to uphold and protect that. The best way to prosper is to accept that reality and give due respect to that diversity and preserve it rather than destroying it.
Do not punish others for fault of yoursBy: Abhijit | 03-Nov-2008 Reply | Forward Businessmen and industrialists only love money, not local people or state. We can ask ourselves why Tata left West Bengal, why no large-scale investment is happening in Bihar and UP and why they are investing in states like Gujarat or Maharastra despite of having people like Narendra Modi, Bal and Raj Thakkery. Some politically motivated, huge investment by central govt (mainly by powerful UP, Bihar lobby politicians) is making no dent either in bringing social justice or economic prosperity of local people there in UP and Bihar. Quality of education and research in all the national institutes in UP Bihar are just pathetic. Govt industries are having worse corruption (even in Indian standard) and as good as non-predictive. People are flocking to Mumbai or MH not for charity to Marathi people or MH, but for their own good. And Mumbai and MH have every right to allow some people but not each and everyone to their land to protect their own culture and economy.
