MNS chief Raj Thackeray was granted interim bail by the Kalyan court in Dombivali case.

Sikh radical outfit backs Raj Thackeray

    Jalandhar, October 22:

MNS leader Raj Thackeray's drive against North Indian migrants in Maharashtra has found support from radical Sikh outfit Dal Khalsa which has announced a march on November 1 to highlight among other issues the influx of migrants in Punjab.

H S Dhami, president of Dal Khalsa said on Wednesday that MNS chief Raj Thackeray has been ‘misunderstood by all’.

"He is right in his own way as he is struggling to preserve and protect the culture, language and rights of his own people", he said.

Endorsing Thackeray's approach, Dhami said it was ‘unfortunate that the state doesn't provide suitable environment for non-violent struggle’.

Senior leaders of Dal Khalsa, including Kanwarpal Singh and Manjinder Singh, pointed to the migrant population in Punjab and asked the Punjab government to regularise migrants.

They said demographic change in Punjab seemed to be ‘alarming’ due to ‘heavy influx’ of migrant population into the state.

The leaders said Dal Khalsa perceives that like Assam and Maharashtra the ‘outsiders’ issue is going to quickly emerge in Punjab also.

"All political parties, pursuing narrow political ends are oblivious of the social, cultural, religious and political damage done to Punjab by their unmindful support to the migrant population," the Dal Khalsa alleged.

"What is the need to facilitate the making of ration cards and voter identity cards of the migratory population? Why can't landlords and industrialists employ the teeming unemployed Punjabis?" the Dal Khalsa leaders said adding ‘the so-called developmental process that we see all around is benefiting only non-Punjabis and unscrupulous leaders of Akali Dal Badal and Congress’.

    ... contd.

Dhami commentBy: jammalamadugu rangan | 23-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward It is really strange that of all the people Sikhsshould compalain about the migrant population. The Sikh are the largest migrants be it in India or any other foreign country. It is the single largest religious group practising their religion and dress code strictly. If British society were to claim that Sikhs are diluting their cultural ethos where they will go.So, better dont lament on this issue, otherwise other communities would pack them back to their holy land: Punjab

Eye Wash Action from Government.By: Sunil Maingi | 23-Oct-2008 Reply | Forward I am not surprised at this. The government has not prepared a strong case against Raj. The court of law only examines what is placed on record before it. There has been no announcement from the government so far, about appeal against the decision of the court. The government should have added murder charge, as one person was killed in the senseless violence incited by Raj. Earlier the state home minister was telling the media, that the government is bringing an ordnance, which will empower the government to recover damages from the people who indulge in violence, but here they did not even prepare the case properly. It seems that the state government wants to prop up Raj as a counter to Shiv Sena. They Congress have done this before. They propped up Bhindrawale as a counter to the Akali Dal, and what happened after that is history. Bhindrawale became too big and a lot of innocents had to die.
