“Amongst other statements, one mischievous statement which he has been repeatedly making is that I am the lawyer who defended Afzal Guru,” Jethmalani has written in his complaint.

“It is intended to seek a cheap electoral advantage and cause misunderstanding about my professional activities and choice of clients,” he has stated in the application.

Jethmalani also said the statements could induce some angry persons to disrupt public order and Thackeray was attempting to incite hate and ill-will among different communities.

“We have received the complaint but have forwarded it to the Kherwadi police station for further investigation. No case has been registered so far,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone V) Milind Bharambe told.
