Rajasthan man found with 1 kg opium

The crime branch of the UT police arrested a native of Rajasthan on December 1 and recovered one kilogram of opium from him. Biru Lal was nabbed by the police near the railway crossing after he tried to bypass a naka by the crime branch.

Inspector Ranjodh Singh of CIA said, "Biru was coming from Hallo Majra towards the railway station. However, discovering a naka at the T-Junction, he turned back. Suspecting foul play, the police officers nabbed him and found one kilogram of opium in a polythene he was carrying".

On preliminary investigation, Biru, who worked as an ice-cream vendor in Chandigarh disclosed that he had been getting opium for an acquaintance in Chandigarh, a resident of Mauli Jagran. On Saturday when he was arrested, he was on his way to deliver the narcotic to his acquaintance.

Biru had brought opium from Rajasthan and was arrested at 7pm on Saturday. He was produced in the court on Sunday and has been sent to judicial custody. The police has not traced the person to whom Biru was to deliver the narcotic that he had brought from Rajasthan.
