A Rajasthan police team was dispatched to Delhi on Sunday, a day after serial blasts rocked the capital and security for senior state police officers was beefed up following the Indian Mujahideen threat to target a Rajasthan Additional Director General of Police (ADG).
The state police said the team would help investigations in Delhi and try to find out whether there are similarities between Saturday's terror strike and the May 13 serial blasts in Jaipur, which claimed 68 lives.
The police will also question SIMI president Shahbaz Hussain, who was arrested in August, about the Delhi blasts because investigations had revealed that he had sent the terror email following the May 13 strikes.
Rajasthan Director General of Police K S Bains said security for ADG (Crime)A K Jain, who heads the Special investigation team (SIT) probing the Jaipur terror strike, was beefed up after the Delhi blasts.
“The email sent by the supposed perpetrators of the blasts referred to Jain, who has been responsible for the terror probe since May 13,” Bains said.
He added that a team of the state police led by DIG Saurabh Srivastava would arrive in Delhi to begin investigations on Sunday. According to Srivastava, the Rajasthan police team's role in Delhi is two-fold. “First, we will try and determine if there are any connections or similarities between the Delhi and Jaipur strikes. We will also make available the intelligence records on the Jaipur terror probe to the Delhi police,” Srivastava said.
