As the early trends for the Assembly elections in five states came in, the BJP said it was disappointed with the outcome in Rajasthan.

The trends suggested a clear defeat for the ruling BJP in Rajasthan while it is in a neck and neck fight with Congress in Chattisgarh. The saffron party is also trailing the Congress in Delhi. However, it appears all set to return to power with a thumping majority in Madhya Pradesh.

"It is sad. The results have been depressing in Rajasthan," party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters.

While the party is relieved that its Government is returning to power in Madhya Pradesh "defying the Uma Bharti factor", it is hoping to retain Chhattisgarh.

"We are hopeful Chhattisgarh and Delhi," party leader Prakash Javdekar said.

election resultsBy: SASHIKANTA MISHRA | 09-Dec-2008 Reply | Forward Nothing much to comment really-its a 2-2 tie in the so-called semifinal match leading to the finals i.e. Lok Sabha in 2009. After all, congress and BJP are two sides of the same coin and there's nothing to choose between them. The apparent difference is only on paper but in real life, either party behaves exactly the same way. We have had enough of the rhetoric! Let someone come and really deliver the goods i.e. address the real problems of 21st century India and not try to take us for a ride as usual. The solidarity rally in Mumbai following the terror attacks should send the right message to the politicians. 'Deliver or perish' shall be the motto of the voter post-mumbai. So, politicians! better beware of the battered Indian voter in 2009.
