Rajdhani effect: 8 trains cancelled

  • Eight long-distance trains had to be cancelled and six diverted after train services on the Khragpur-Tatanagar section was suspended following the abduction of the driver and the assistant driver of the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express by the People’s Committee Against Police Atrocities (PCAPA) activists.

    With the 2443 Rajdhani Express being stopped near the Banstala halt between Sardiha and Jhargram stations on Kharagpur-Tatanagar section at 2.35 pm, trains on that stretch were stopped or diverted due to security reasons.

    According to officials of South Eastern Railway, trains like Kharagpur-Tatanagar Passenger, Kharagpur-Tatanagar MEMU, Tatanagar-Kharagpur passenger, Howrah-Tatanagar Steel Express, Howrah-Koraput Express, Howrah-Ranchi-Hatia-Howrah Express had to be cancelled on Tuesday.
