The trio Rajesh Puri,Himani Shivpuri and Maouli Ganguly descended on the city today evening. These stars form the cast of play titles Band Baj Gaya that will be staged at Guru Nanak Bhawan. This show is being organised by Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam. The play has been directed by Tushar Joshi.
A tete-e-tete with the stars: Rajesh Puri: many would remember him from the days of cult serials like Hum Log and films like Jaane Bhee do yaron. With over 125 television serials and 200 films under his belt,Rajesh Puri is now busy directing television serials like Sonu and Sweaty for Sab TV.
Comparing a black comedy Jaane bhee do yaron with the present times,Puri says,The film that as per me came close to Jaane…was No entry and another film to die for is 3 Idots. 3 idiots is a revolution, says the actor, who is a contemporary of actors like Nadira Babbar,Alok Nath,Saish Kaushik,Raj Babbar and others. Puri adds,The film-making has changed a lot these days. These days people making a film have less time for creativity and spent more time on other activities, and that is why promoting a film these days takes more space and time than actually making a film.
Himani Shivpuri: The actors introduction in the city was as a classmate of Sunil Kanth Munjal,Managing Director of Hero Cycles. Both studied together at Doon School. Himani says,I remember Sunil as a quite hard-working boy, qualities that have taken him so high in life. I was a flamboyant girl who participated in debates and all. It was during our alumni meet last year that Sunil reminded me of one of our stage performances where I sang a song and he kind of gave a background music.
Back to work,Himani says,Theatre is my passion and first love for it is in this medium that I get to feel human-to-human contact. Films make an actor immortal. Television takes an actor to each and every home but the life of a television actor is only as long as the soap runs. Who remembers the Tulsi or Parvati these days. They are history.
Mouli Ganguly: The petite actress who has done Raincoat alongside Aishwarya Rai is keeping her fingers crossed for both her theatre show as well as her films. She says,This is my second play and I am actually learning the process. Even in films,I have done just one or two films and am waiting for a release in February, says Mouli. But for television,Mouli says,I have done enough. Serials dance shows and now it is time for a break. Moreover it is every actors dream to be a part of Bollywood.
