Rajinikanth, the Tamil superstar whose once-mysterious ailment prompted thousands of his concerned fans to turn to god,is fine.
Scotching rumours that the 61-year-old was suffering from a serious ailment, reports about which appeared true after he was shifted to the intensive care unit late on Thursday, his immediate family and senior doctors said Thursday that the actor was fine and recovering well. He is hale and healthy… cheerful, said Dr S Thanikachalam, the head of the team of doctors treating Rajini at the SRMC hospital in Chennai where he has been admitted since May 13.
A bulletin from the hospital said he was suffering from intestinal and gastro intestinal problems. …There was fluid overload and necessitated advanced treatment, ultra filtration and some amount of hemodialysis, said the latest bulletin.
His wife,Latha Rajinikanth, said he first suffered from a stomach infection and then lungs infection, which caused an imbalance in his body. All organs are fine, she added, apparently irked by reports that said the actor was suffering from kidney ailment which required dialysis.
He is human, not a supernatural being; he needs a sterile environment, said Latha, explaining the reason for moving him to the ICU.
Their daughter Aishwarya and her husband and actor Dhanush were present at the hospital.
