BJP president Rajnath Singh on Saturday ruled out any revival of political fortunes for Rahul Mahajan, son of the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan. He said this in an exclusive interview to the NDTV Network.

Asked whether the doors of the BJP were still open for Rahul, Singh said police were investigating the matter and anything on his future could be said after results come out.

He also made it clear that in the present circumstances BJP could only provide emotional support to the family, as there was no other role the BJP could play in the episode. ‘‘Please tell me what role can we have when the police are looking into the matter. And why the BJP should be linked to the personal issues of any leader of the party. And nobody should expect that also from the party.’’
