A Day after former BJP MLA shot off a letter to party national president Rajnath Singh asking him to quit, many of his colleagues in Uttar Pradesh have joined the chorus.
Worried over the ongoing bickering in the central leadership of the party, a section of the state BJP leaders on Friday hit out at Singh.
The most scathing attack came from former MP Rajnath Singh Surya who called Singh as “the most incompetent national president the BJP has had”.
“Rajnath Singh lacks talent and ability to perform. The day he was elevated to the post of national president of the party, it became clear that the factional fight of UP’s BJP unit will be repeated at the national level,” Surya said.
Surya further said: “Singh is known for practising double standards. While he asked for the resignations of Uttarakhand Chief Minister B C Khanduri and Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Vasundhara Raje for the party’s debacle in both the states, he spared UP BJP president Ramapati Tripathi. It is clear Rajnath Singh is protecting his cronies and eliminating potential rivals.”
With 12 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat scheduled to go for elections within next two months in the state, BJP leaders feel that the infighting will have an adverse impact on the party’s electoral prospects.
The leader of the BJP in the Assembly, Om Prakash Singh, said party workers are shocked by the present state of the affairs.
“It’s not a happy situation for the party and it (the infighting) is damaging the party,” said Om Prakash Singh.
