  • BJP president Rajnath Singh has demanded that India should take up the issue of demolition of a Hindu temple in Kazakhstan with the authority there and ask them to rebuild it. Singh who was here on the occasion of the conclusion of his party’s Parivartan Yatra said it was a pity that when even British Prime Minister Tony Blair had raised the issue of demolition, India had failed to react to it.

Meanwhile, the BJP chief said that the party would fight the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections along with the NDA partners and if any other party wants to join, it would be looked into. However, he said that BJP would go alone in the Uttaranchal Assembly elections and is confident of winning a majority in there.

Asked about the hesitation of the party in putting up a chief ministerial candidate in Uttaranchal, Rajnath said that this is not the first time that the party had not projected anyone as the chief ministerisl candidate. “The issue will be resolved after the elections in consultations with the elected legislators,” he added.

Addressing a public meeting at Kotdwar where the first leg of the Parivartan Yatra concluded today, Singh attacked the Congress by saying, “The situation in Uttaranchal has gone from bad to worse under the Congress regime and inflation has touched an all time high at the national level making it difficult for the poor to survive.”

He claimed that the electoral fortunes of BJP have shown an upward swing in Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh civic polls and he expected that the party would do well in Uttaranchal too.
