Raju Pal murder: STF to help arrest Ashraf
Amid criticism over its failure to find Ashraf,former MLA and brother of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad,the state government has engaged the Special Task Force to arrest him.
Amid criticism over its failure to find Ashraf,former MLA and brother of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmad,the state government has engaged the Special Task Force (STF) to arrest him.
Ahmad and Ashraf,along with 16 others,are accused in the January 2005 murder of BSP legislator Raju Pal.
This is the first time the BSP government has sought STFs help to arrest Ashraf.
The main accused in the case,Ashraf is also the most wanted criminal in the district. He carries a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head. The district police have not been able to locate Ashraf in two years, said DIG Chandra Prakash.
The STF has been asked to get Ashraf at any cost and the district police are ready to extend its cooperation,he added. Ashraf was declared an absconder by a court in 2007. Recently,the CB-CID had filed a second chargesheet in the Raju Pal murder case,naming seven more accused.
