  • A pilot vehicle of Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman K Rahman Khan, which has a radio frequency tag allowing its entry into Parliament, was stolen from the residence of his driver in the national capital.

The SUV was stolen from the residence of his driver Niranjan Mohanty in Mahipalpur late last night, police sources said.

Sources in Khan's office said the SUV was being used as a pilot vehicle in the Deputy Chairman's convoy. Khan is not in Delhi and is on an official tour.

"The driver had taken the vehicle to his residence last night as he was relieved from duty very late. This is a common practice," the sources said.

A senior police official said a case has been registered.

"We are investigating why the driver took the vehicle to his residence. The vehicle has a radio frequency tag which allows it to enter Parliament," the official said.

Sources in Parliament Security said they have already de-activated the tag to ensure that it is not misused.
