In a significant statement the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today informed the special CBI Court,Chandigarh that it is collecting evidence against Ghirra to establish that she possesses property and valuables disproportionate to her income.

In another development the court partially allowed the request of Ghirra wherein she had requested the court to allow her to operate her bank accounts which stand seized by the CBI.

The court has made it clear that Ghirra will be allowed to operate only those transactions which took place after July 24,the day she was arrested.

Preliminary probe by Central Bureau of Investigation had found an imbalance between monthly earnings and recovered assets of graft accused Punjab police DSP Raka Ghirra,said officers looking into the case. “As per our record,Ghirra’s monthly salary is around Rs 40,000 and assets including cash,fixed deposits,jewellery and property documents,which were recovered from her possession,have been valued at more than Rs 1.7 crore”,a CBI source disclosed.
