Ramdev gets permission for Delhi rally

The Delhi Police has granted yoga guru Baba Ramdev permission to hold a congregation on June 4 at Jantar Mantar.

The Delhi Police has granted yoga guru Baba Ramdev permission to hold a congregation on June 4 at Jantar Mantar — the same place where Anna Hazare sat on a fast-unto-death to protest against corruption last month.

Ramdev, who has announced a campaign against corruption, had earlier got permission to hold a yoga camp at the Ramlila Maidan in central Delhi for 20 days starting June 4. The police have made elaborate arrangements as thousands of people are expected to camp there every night.

The yoga guru is expected to use the yoga camp as a platform to mobilise support for his campaign. The police, however, said they would deploy intelligence officials at the yoga camp to see that the platform is not used for any political gain.
