Ramjas College has revoked the admission of six students whose marksheets were found to be forged, taking the total number of forgeries discovered to 27. Among the six were four who had secured admission to Economics (Hons).

With the number of cases rising, the college on Tuesday announced that it was instituting an internal inquiry to find out if college staff were involved in helping students with fake marksheets gain admission to the college.

“A domestic inquiry committee,to be led by retired Additional Sessions Judge Dr R K Yadav, has been constituted to find out if rules were followed by college staff during admissions. The inquiry will start in a day or two,” Ramjas principal Dr Rajendra Prasad said on Tuesday.

The inquiry is aimed at fixing responsibility at college-level for 20-odd students with forged marksheets to gain admission to the college,Dr Prasad said.

The latest six cancellations were effected on Monday. Those dismissed include four students from first-year Economic (Hons) class, one from first-year BA programme and a second-year student from B Com programme.

The students had inflated their marks to meet the cut-off set by the college. The college had earlier cancelled admission of 21 students whose marksheets were found to have been forged.

The inquiry committee constituted by the college in August to scrutinise marksheets submitted to the college is still at work. It is now scrutinising the marksheets submitted by second and third-year students of the college.
