Ranbir Kapoor says that it is only confidence that matters

'I don't consider myself hot or cool. For me,being cool is all about being yourself,' said Ranbir Kapoor.

He’s just become the brand ambassador of a popular brand of clothing which is presenting him as “the new face of cool.” But Ranbir Kapoor wonders what the fuss is all about. “I don’t consider myself hot or cool. For me,being cool is all about being yourself, not whether you are dressed up in branded or expensive wear.”

His personal mantra when it comes to clothes is slipping into a pair of jeans, wearing a tee,a positive attitude and his confidence. “It’s not about the price tag of what you wear. In fact,I am not brand-conscious at all. I just rely on my fashion sense, which tells me to be confident about whatever I am wearing,” says Kapoor. He considers Hrithik Roshan, who he has replaced as the brand ambassador of the same brand,as a fashion icon. “He is a fashion icon and I haven’t replaced him. I am just carrying on the legacy as a brand ambassador. There is no professional rivalry here.”

When it comes to style-icons he says that he does not have any. “Every actor from Dilip Kumar to Raj Kapoor to Dev Anand to Rishi Kapoor have their personal styles that were followed by millions. “But today, there is more authenticity when it comes to the clothes a character portrays on screen. For example,my cool tees and jeans suited my character in Wake Up Sid! perfectly. It was what every teenager of his age and the stratum of society would wear.”

Commenting on the difference in actors of today and those of yore,he feels that there is hardly any element of mystery associated with the actors of today. “Whether it is true or false, things are written about them almost every day in the papers,” he smiles.

His guitar lessons (which he is learning for his next film with Imtiaz Ali),playing football and decorating his new house occupy his time these days.

Ironically he is ‘cool’ when it comes to ex-flame Deepika Padukone being seen with liquor baron Vijay Mallaya’s son,Siddharth, who referred to her as their IPL team’s lucky mascot. “Deepika is a wonderful and a very hardworking person. I wish the media would leave her alone. If she is with someone, she will let everyone know,” he concludes.
