    UP pull out a draw

Ghaziabad: Connor Williams and Rakesh Solanki performed the rescue act with a 103 run partnership, resuming on the final day on 60/3. Williams scored 96 and later Yusuf Pathan unleashed an array of unorthodox strokes in his innings of 78 — an inside out six past long-off, a short arm jab of the backfoot into the sightscreen and finally a slog scoop down fine-leg’s throat. Instead of declaring and going for a win, Baroda continued batting. The match was declared a draw after five overs of UP’s innings, with Baroda earning one point to the home side’s three for their first innings lead.

    Brief scores: Baroda 234 and 331 all out (C Williams 96, Y Pathan 78; P Gupta 4/83); UP 240 and 8/1 (I Pathan 1/0)

    Innings win for TN

Amritsar: Tamil Nadu clinched an innings and a 45-run win and a bonus point against Punjab. Overnight 114 for five, Punjab resumed needing 180 runs more to make the visitors bat again. And while their tail did wag, stretching the second innings total to 248, none of their specialist batsmen, save Pankaj Dharmani who made 56, applied themselves. R Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers with five for 116, and was supported well by Aushik Srinivas (3 for 47) and SS Kumar (2 for 47).
