Trouble seems to be far from over for film director Madhur Bhandarkar as a magistrate court on Wednesday rejected the cops’ clean chit to the filmmaker and said that it will probe the rape charges levelled against him by aspiring actress Preeti Jain in 2004.

The Andheri Metropolitan Court rejected a “B Summary” report filed by the Andheri Police that said the case filed by Jain was false and Bhandarkar was wrongly implicated. “The magistrate will now conduct the investigation on its own and has summoned Jain on December 22 to record her statement,” said Jain’s advocate Sushan Kunjuraman.

The case dates back to 2004,when Jain had alleged that Bhandarkar had raped her on several occasions after promising her a role in his movies. She had lodged a complaint of rape against Bhandarkar, which the director has denied, calling it a “publicity stunt”.

The police had filed its detailed report in Bhandarkar’s support in May 2007,claiming it had carried out investigation and found all allegations to be untrue, and sought closure of the case.

Jain, however, moved court against the police’s decision, and in December 2008,a magistrate ordered further investigations. The police once again filed a B Summary report in July this year saying there was “no evidence” against Bhandarkar.
