“The police took away Goyal in front of our eyes and now they are denying it,” he said. “They assured us that they will look for Goyal.”

“We followed the police car and saw the Shahdara policemen take him to Seelampur police station even though it was not their jurisdiction,” Sharma said.

On their part, the police said had they detained Goyal, they would have said so. “He came to the police station and was told that celebrations were banned and then he left,” said DCP northeast Delhi,SS Yadav. “He has gone in hiding on his own. This is nothing new,he has a history of things like this. We have no reason to arrest or detain him.”

On December 3,Goyal had been arrested from Tilak Marg after his party workers allegedly vandalised the Maharashtra Sadan.
