RBI reference rate: Rupee 53.1198 against US dollar

The Reserve Bank today fixed the reference rate of the rupee for the US dollar at 53.1198.

The Reserve Bank today fixed the reference rate of the rupee for the US dollar at 53.1198 and the Euro at 68.6020 as against 52.7000 a Dollar and 68.1585 a Euro as on last Friday.

In a press release issued by RBI,the exchange rates for the pound and yen against the rupee were quoted at 85.1457 a pound and 67.65 per 100 yen,based on reference rates for the US dollar and cross-currency quotes at noon.

The reference rate is based on the noon rates of select banks here and the SDR-Rupee rate would be based on this rate,the release added.
