A month after the mysterious death of Prasun Adhikary, a participant of a Bengali television reality show, another controversy rocked the same programme on Monday, when a 21-year-old participant consumed poison and collapsed at the audition venue.

According to sources, Tania Saha from Shyambazar, failed to clear the programme’s audition and consumed poison from a bottle she had carried to the venue, Nehru Children’s Museum, with her. She collapsed in the middle of the proceedings and the organisers rushed her to a city nursing home, where she is undergoing treatment.

Shortly after Tania was admitted, a police team from Hastings Police Station visited the Nehru Children’s Museum and later the nursing home. The cops are now waiting for Tania’s version of the story before deciding on a course of action. No FIR has been lodged in the case so far.

The organisers of the programme, Fatafati, meanwhile, maintained that Tania was not a participant and that they had nothing to do with her suicide attempt. However, sources disclosed that the girl had gone for auditions along with her boyfriend. She failed to make a mark in the audition, and maybe, in a fit of depression, attempted suicide.

The episode brings back memories of the August 9 incident when 23-year-old hotel caretaker Prasun Adhikary mysteriously fell to death from the fifth floor of a hotel in a Medinipur town after an alleged wrangle with organisers and participants of the same reality show.
