  • Sourav Ganguly is set to start a new innings — on the silver screen with a documentary-feature, The Warrior Prince. The bilingual film — in English and Bengali—- showcases Prince of Kolkata’s journey from childhood to his rise as India’s most successful captain and is scheduled for a December release.

It’s the brainchild of sports reporter-turned-filmmaker Mitali Ghosal who is also the producer and director of the film. “I stuck upon the idea of making this documentary-cum-feature after seeing his first century at the Eden Gardens against Pakistan last year. It will have inputs from his wife Dona, elder brother Snehashish, father Chandidas and also friends,” Ghosal said.

The two-hour film has interviews of Azhar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Harbhajan Singh along with former Sri Lanka captain Arjuna Ranatunga speaking about their experiences with Ganguly. And the star cast is growing.

“Steve Waugh too has given his contest for a small interview. We are working out on his suitable timing. We are also thinking of approaching Ricky Ponting and Brett Lee during their tour in October,” Ghosal said.
