Realty and affordable housing will be our focus: Adi Godrej

  • The Godrej group will focus on realty and affordable housing segments for the next couple of years, the group’s chairman, Adi Godrej, said.

    Godrej, who was in Ahmedabad to preside over the convocation ceremony of Nirma University, said that demand of affordable houses will remain significantly high and there will also be low interest rates for housing loan for the next 2-3 years.He added that the Godrej group is coming up with a township in Ahmedabad city with an investment of Rs 5,000 crore.

    “We will soon make the announcement for this housing project, but I can say that we will build around 30 million square feet area and each dwelling unit will be priced at below Rs 25 lakh," he said.

    He said the land has already been bought for the project and a local realty firm will be partner to implement the project, which will mainly be self-funded with the proceeds from the booking to be used to fund the project.

    The group has plans to come up with similar projects in other states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Punjab and Delhi.
