Rebels meet Dhumal,complain against Ravi

All the delegation members belonged to the Shanta Kumar camp and had been unhappy over Dhumal promoting Ravi.

Following some rebel BJP MLAs and leaders meeting party president Nitin Gadkari last month to lodge their grievances against the state leadership, another group of “marginalised” cabinet ministers and MLAs from Kangra met Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Thursday night to complain against fellow minister Ravinder Ravi and seek redressal of their grievances.

Two ministers — Krishan Kapoor (Industries) and Ramesh Chand Dhawala — alongwith MLAs Praveen Sharma,Vipin Parmar and Desh Raj,asked the chief minster to advise Ravi to work in tandem with legislators and stop him from carrying on a tirade against his own party MLAs and ministers.

Assuring that their grievances will be looked into,Dhumal reportedly proposed that meaningful interaction and joint tours comprising all ministers and MLAs from Kangra should be held to send a message to the opponents. “All channels of communication with MLAs and ministers are open,” Dhumal told the group.

Though details of the meeting, which lasted for almost for two-and-a-half hours are being kept tightly under the wraps, the MLAs and minister admit that it was held in a very cordial atmosphere.

According to sources, some of the key issues raised at the meet included inordinate delay by the Jaypee Group in completing the upcoming Vivekanand Medical College and Hospital at Palampur. Work for the project had begun in 1991. The delegation also asked Dhumal not to allow emergence of “extra-constitutional” personalities who interfere in the working of MLAs.

“Some Congress leaders in Kangra call the shots in the government. They also boast of their proximity to the CM. They need to be dealt with effectively,” stated the delegation.
