Imran Shaikh, one of the ten youths arrested by the Ahmedabad City Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) for his alleged role in the July 26 Ahmedabad serial blasts, is said to have recced Ahmedabad Civil Hospital along with other conspirators when his father was undergoing treatment there.
Revealing this in a press release on Monday, the DCB officials said Imran’s father, Ibrahim Sheikh, was a heart patient and being a BPL card holder, he had received free treatment at the U N Mehta Heart Hospital in Civil Hospital compound. He was admitted in hospital in March and April, 2008. He was again taken to the same hospital in June-end where stayed till July 9.
According to DCB officials, Imran, a resident of Vadodara, has confessed to have spent at least three nights in the Civil Hospital when he surveyed the hospital. His accomplices Yunus Mansuri, Usman Agarbattiwala, Zahid Shaikh and Samsuddin Shaikh, too, went around the hospital then on the pretext of visiting his father.
During the interrogation of the ten accused, the release added, it has also been found that like the terror training camps in Kerala and in Gujarat near Halol, many such camps were organised in states like Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. These camps were attended by many SIMI activists from across the country, the release further added.
