Recent Trinamool activities are helping BJP: Buddha

Former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today said that the Trinamool Congress' recent activities are only helping the BJP.

"The state government is playing with communal sentiments and it is also trying to help the BJP," Bhattacharjee said while addressing a rally at Dum Dum.

He also described the Mamata Banerjee-led government as a government of anti-socials. In this difficult situation he advised CPM workers and supporters not to leave any ground to the opposition in the run up to the panchayat polls.

"The overall situation is that of an anarchy and an regressive trend is being witnessed in the state," Bhattacharjee said. "We could never imagine that the situation will become so bad in a year, in the state. The plight of farmers has reached a climax. But, the state is always in a denial mode about farmers' suicides. Moreover, the state has not made any progress in setting up industries," said Bhattacharjee.

Referring to the upcoming panchayat elections, Bhattacharjee said though the party is not sure when the elections will be held but workers should not be complacent regarding the preparations. "Those who had voted for change are now comparing the situation as to what was there earlier and what is there now. A time has come when the people should put up resistance against the government," he added.

Describing the government as "inhuman" he said that while the government has not paid the salaries and pensions of officials working in the state-owned transport corporations, it has increased the salary of its ministers.
