  • Sachin Tendulkar equalled Sunil Gavaksar’s record of most hundreds against Australia. It was his eighth hundred in 42 innings off 23 Tests vs Australia and 38th hundred overall off 144 Tests. Gavaskar’s same number of centuries came in 31 innings off 20 Tests vs Australia

    Sachin also became the second Indian after Gavaskar and seventh player overall to score five or more centuries against Australia in Australia. England’s Jack Hobbs, with 9 centuries, holds the record.

    Sachin also became the first Indian and 16th batsman overall to score 2000 runs against Australia in Tests.

    Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh set a record for the eighth wicket against Australia — 129 runs.
