  • Karnataka CM BS Yeddyyurappa buckled further to rebel Reddy bros demands on Tuesday. Yeddyyurappa brought back IAS official of Reddy's choice as the Bellary District Collector.

Earlier, Yeddyurappa had shunted out B Shivappa, the Bellary DC, after the Reddy brothers had rebelled.

Shivappa now comes back to Bellary while his replacement of the last two weeks, Harsh Gupta, gets shunted to Shimoga, the CM’s home district. The embattled CM has also undone the transfer of Gadag DC NV Prasad at the behest of the Reddy brothers.

Honest civil seravnts?By: Harsha Narayan | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward These politicians are treating civil servants like dirt. Do they realize that this could lead to development disaster. And why should they prefer one civil servant to another? Are the concerned civil servants honest? The whole thing is obnoxious
Democracy needs a changeBy: Dr B Sundara | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward IAS officers are tossed like a foot ball by these politicians to have their way smooth. The CM has become totally powerless. What programmes he can implement? It would be all-powerful Reddy brothers all the way.A state with a committee to monitor day-to-day affairs despite having a CM. What form democracy we are practicing? In a democracy, people's will has to prevail. Is it so in Karnataka now? In the neighbouring Maharashtra, an MLA beaten in the Assemly for taking the oath in Hindi.Unity in diversity! It is in fact more diversity in diversity. There is an urgent need to look at the democracy we follow.
