A 15-year-old girl playing outside her house was invited for a joyride by her “rakhi brother”. She ended up in a flat in Rohini, gangraped by him and his three friends.

All four were arrested and are in Tihar. Now, their friends are targeting the family so the case against them is withdrawn.

On September 17, the victim’s younger sister, a 13-year-old, was molested and harassed near her school in broad daylight.

Police officers say the girl was getting ready to go home when four or five boys accosted her. One of them was the brother of Pravesh Rana, the main accused in the rape case and a student of the same school.

The girls’ father, who had gone to pick up his daughter, tried to intervene but was severely beaten up. By the time the police arrived, the miscreants had fled. The man was taken to hospital for treatment.

A case was registered at the Prashant Vihar police station under Sections 354 (sexual harassment), 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons with common intention) against two boys.

The rape of the elder girl had taken place on March 19. According to the FIR, the girl was playing outside her house, when Rana, a financier, came by in a black Scorpio. The girl had met him through a friend in school and had tied him a rakhi.

“Rana asked her to come for a joyride,” said a senior police officer. He took her to a flat in Sector 17 in Rohini. When the girl hesitated to go in, Rana said he wanted her to meet his uncle. Going upstairs, the girl saw two of Rana’s friends drinking. “Rana, his driver Gulshan and the two other men — Ravinder and Ashish — raped her by turn,” the officer added.
