Religare orders internal probe after arrest of VP on molestation charge

A day after the vice-president of Religare Finevest Limited, G Krishnan (38), was arrested for allegedly molesting the manager of his company, police are questioning the employees of the firm located at Sector 125 in Noida.

Meanwhile, the company issued a statement that it will be conducting an internal investigation into the matter and will cooperate in the investigation being carried out by Noida police.

"It has come to our notice that an employee of our company has filed an FIR with Noida police alleging sexual harassment by another colleague in the office. Our organisation has a well-established framework to address employee grievances, including matters relating to sexual harassment, which are handled in an urgent, unbiased and sensitive manner."

It further stated, "Although in this case the complainant-employee did not escalate the matter internally, we have taken note of the concern as soon as it came to our notice and are currently conducting an internal investigation. The outcome and results of the same would be provided to the police/investigating authorities for appropriate action."

The accused was arrested after the woman, who is in her early 20s, approached police and filed a complaint alleging that Krishnan used to call her into his cabin and molest her. She also alleged that the accused tried to touch her and make her watch porn videos, which made her feel uncomfortable.

"Initially, she was reluctant to take legal action against the accused as she was scared that it would tarnish her reputation. But police intervened, and, after counselling sessions, she lodged an FIR. She feared that the case would damage her career," a police officer said.
