A storage facility, which was launched a few months ago, helps you hold on to all the possessions that cant find space at your home
There are certain prized possessions that one doesnt want to part with old photo albums, books, mementos. You want to hold on to them, but wheres the space? StoreMore has a solution. A storage facility for households that became operational in June 2011,StoreMore gives people the option of storing their belongings at its Noida facility for as long as they like.
Amit Wilson and Nitin Dhawan started Reliable Records in 2010,which provides storage solutions to corporates by storing their documents and files in their state-of-the-art facility. When we launched Reliable Records,we started getting requests from corporate clients, asking us to handle their personal storage needs too. So we came up with the idea of starting StoreMore, where people can store their household items with us, says Wilson.
One can use StoreMore to store woollen clothes, photo albums, books, trophies, crockery and shoes. The procedure is simple. The users can order the boxes through email, pack their items, and prepare an inventory. StoreMore will pick up the packed boxes from the customers house, along with a cheque for the payment plan. There are three payment plans available, and one can choose from monthly, yearly and three-yearly plans at Rs 60,Rs 365 and Rs 999 per box respectively. Once the boxes reach their facility, they will provide users with a bar code for every box. When the users want the box back, theyll have to send an email to StoreMore with the bar code of the box.
In the first few weeks of its opening, the idea met with some resistance. Some of our users had questions as to how safe their belongings will be,and some people wanted us to send them pictures of our premises. Some even came to check the facility. We told them they were welcome to do so. Its not just a business, its a way of life. While this concept is well known in places like the US,it is a relatively new concept in India, says Dhawan.
To take care of safety needs,StoreMore has a biometric access control and back up,besides a system for fire prevention. A fingerprinting reading system is used to control the access to the storage area, and bar code scanners are used to track the boxes, which are double-walled and strong.
Talking about the kind of response StoreMore has received so far,Wilson says,We havent focused much on advertising. We have promoted it only through social media and word of mouth. Considering that, the response we have received is promising. Weve got a couple of requests from Chandigarh,Bangalore and Mumbai, where we would want to expand in the future.
