The Uttar Pradesh Information Directorate on Tuesday sought a report from the Lucknow police regarding the criminal charges against its OSD Rajesh Rai,who was arrested on Sunday evening in a case of assault and later freed from police custody by a mob. The police have since been searching for Rajesh,husband of BJP MP Kusum Rai. Information Department director Ajay Kumar Upadhyaya said: We have sought a report about the criminal charges registered against Rajesh. It is expected to reach us on Wednesday. Action will be initiated against Rajesh after the report is received. Rajesh was arrested after he and his men beat up some business executives and their families who had an argument with a parking attendant at Dream Valley Resort,near Gaosainganj,over damage to their vehicle. Rajesh is said to be the owner of the resort. Lucknow (Range) IG A K Jain said the police had conducted several raids to arrest Rajesh Rai. A consolidated report about Rajesh indulging in criminal activities and running away from police custody will be sent to his department, Jain said. Rajesh is a government official and running a commercial establishment amounts to a grave offence under service rules. The police report will include this aspect also, he added.
