Fed up with the dilly-dallying attitude of the Ludhiana Postal department, a city resident has knocked at the doors of Indian Posts, Ministry of Communication, New Delhi, alleging that some important documents sent through speed-post had not reached its destination within the city even three months after they were mailed. He has sought probe in the matter.
Dr Gurkirpal Singh, a resident of 456-B, Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar, said, “On June 15, I speed posted a packet from the head post office, Bharat Nagar, to SHO, Sarabha Nagar Police station. The receipt number of this letter is EE7726325841N. But the packet has not reached its destination till date. I have been running from pillar to post to obtain the proof of delivery of that important packet by the postman but have failed to get it. “
Dr Gurkirpal Singh further said, “The letter which was posted to a local address from a local post office, should have reached its destination the same day, but it has not reached even after three months! To know the status of that packet, I contacted MS Neemi, the then senior post-master of Head Post Office, Bharat Nagar, on June 27 and handed him an application for providing me the proof of delivering that packet to the addressee. On this, the senior post master called up Rajguru Nagar post office (from where the letter was to be delivered to the addressee) and claimed that the packet was delivered on June 17. But when they did respond to my application for almost a month, I personally went to the Rajguru Nagar post office and asked for the proof. The sub post-master gave me in writing that the packet was delivered on June 17 but did not provide me any proof of delivery.”
